Megan and her Handpuppet

Junkbox Puppetry is soon to sweep New England!  Or, at least Westford!  Our first Junkbox Puppetry class at the PCA was a big success.  We are starting the session by learning about the different types of puppets.  We started with hand puppets, also known as glove puppets.  What creative students!  We had monsters and dogs and old lady puppets.  Megan (pictured) had lots of fun creating her puppet.  She also is full of ideas for our big junkbox puppets we will be creating this fall- like a monster with dozens of egg carton eyes!  Yikes, sounds scary, Megan!

Keep checking out our blog every week to see our newest creations.  Also, don’t forget to check out the rest of our photos on flickr.  The link is on the bottom left hand corner of the Rumphius homepage.

Autumn Paperbag Scarecrows

This week at Westford’s Farmers’ Market we decided to celebrate Autumn and harvest with our very own paperbag scarecrows.  We had scary, silly, happy, and sad scarecrows made by several young market artists.  We even had two young artists drop by the activity tent all the way from Israel (pictured) to make their very own American scarecrows.  Next Tuesday, stop by to make an Autumn garden hat!

our mission…

Henry David Thoreau could not have said it better than in his quote, “The World is but a canvas to the imagination.” At Rumphius, we provide the canvas in a communal, eco-conscious and grassroots setting, and you provide the imagination!

Where am I?
